New Decking Replacement | Brentwood

Project Overview

We recently completed this decking replacement in Brentwood, Essex, giving the customer a much smarter and more inviting outdoor area while replacing an old deck that had become heavily weathered over the years.

The existing raised decking provided a useful space directly outside the property, but the boards and surrounding timber had seen better days. Rather than simply replacing the surface boards, the project involved stripping the decking back and rebuilding the area to create a strong, attractive finish designed for many more years of use.

Removing the Old Decking

We began by carefully removing the old decking boards, steps and sections of the existing balustrade. With the surface removed, we could access the structure underneath and prepare the area properly for the replacement.

As the photographs show, this was a substantial raised deck running alongside the rear of the property, so creating a solid supporting structure was particularly important.

Rebuilding the Decking Structure

A new timber framework was constructed across the area, with joists securely positioned to provide the support needed for the new decking boards.

We also incorporated the raised sections and steps into the new structure and carried out brickwork around the lower section of the deck, helping to create a neat and robust transition between the raised decking and the lower garden area.

Taking the time to get the framework right provides a level, stable base and is one of the most important parts of any decking replacement.

New Decking, Steps & Balustrade

Once the supporting structure was complete, the new brown wood-effect decking boards were installed across the full area.

The rich brown finish works particularly well against the property’s traditional red brickwork and surrounding greenery, creating a warm and welcoming space immediately outside the French doors.

The project was finished with new steps, timber posts and a contrasting balustrade, providing a defined edge around the raised deck while keeping access to the garden straightforward.
